He is survived by: his parents, Robert, Sr. and Bernice Spear Powers; his wife Malinda Crowder Powers; his sons, Charlie of West Point, Robert III (Bo) of Pittsburgh and John Floyd Powers of Nashville Tn; and his siblings, Betsy Zachry (Buck) of Lake Harding, Leslie Mendenhall (Ken) of Columbus and Chuck Powers of Stockbridge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
