He was predeceased by: his daughter Shelia J. Spires; his grandson Larry Scott "Scottie" Strong; his parents, Leon Strong and Lillie Knight Strong; and his siblings, Catherine Smith, Ruthie Hamlett, Alvie Mae Lake, Pearl Oliver, Annie O'Dean Hayes and Andrew Earl Strong.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Faye Duncan (Lynn), Larry Winston Strong (Ginger) and Jerry Wayne Strong (Glenda); his sister Leona Strong Lake; and his wife Nellie Ruth Messer Strong. He is also survived by his fifteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren.
