He was predeceased by : his parents, Sidney Jr. Cox and Emily Cox; his brother Jack Cox; and his grandson William Tyndale Cox. He is survived by : his wife Elizabeth Cox of Waynesboro; his children, Steve Cox (Robin) of Columbia, SC, Sid Cox of Waynesboro, Ria Sheridan (Brian) of Washington, DC and Jackson Cox, II (Karen) of Waynesboro; and his stepchildren, Kimberly Belk (Patrick) of Alexander and Carlyle Jerome Broome, II (Kristina) of Atlanta.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Deloach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home (220 E 6th St, Waynesboro, GA 30830). A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Magnolia Cemetery (700 W 6th St, Waynesboro, GA 30830).
