He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Atkinson and Eldridge Atkinson. He is survived by: his children, Trisha Atkinson Sikes (Charlie) of Waynesboro and John Atkinson, Jr. (Michaela) of Waynesboro; and his close friends, Rhonda Posey and Larry Buxton. He is also survived by six grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
