He was predeceased by: his parent Ruby Googe Ganas; his wife Marian Cole Ganas; and his siblings, Harry Ganas and Juanita Coble. He is survived by: his sons, Russell Lindbergh "Rusty" Ganas, Jr. (Teresa) and Gordon Cole "G. C." Ganas (Kathy); his grandchildren, Garrett Ganas (Nydia) of Waycross, Hannah Cochran (Brandon) of Waycross, Katie Harvell (Stephen) of Blackshear and Jordan Ganas (Hope) of Tallahassee, FL; and his great grandchildren, Rett, Sawyer, Eli Ganas, Sophie, Ty Cochran, Cooper, Leanna Harvell and Kolbi Ganas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
