He was predeceased by: his father Ralph Carter Sasser, Jr.; his brother James William "Bill" Hayman; and his grandparents, Ralph, Gladys Sasser, L. D. and Mildred Griffin.
He is survived by: his friend Alibi; his children, David Andrew Thornton (Kristina) of Waycross, Joseph Carter Christian Sasser of Waycross and April Storm Sasser of Newport; his mother Nona McLeod (Farrell) of Waycross; his brother Robert Wesley "Wes" Hayman of Waycross; his close friend Phyllis Hausladen of Waycross; and his granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Thornton.
