He was predeceased by: his parents, J. N. Copeland and Evelyn Peace Copeland; his grandparents, Elbert and Martha Peace; his grandson Dalton Copeland; his nephews, Hank and Opie Copeland; and his close friend Suitcase Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Gail Varnadore Copeland of Dixie Union; his children, Mandy Riggins (Ray) of Dixie Union and John Copeland (Christina) of Dixie Union; his grandchildren, Jonathan Copeland, Kaylee Lang, Emily Riggins and Rayne Riggins; his brothers, Wilbur Copeland (Barbara) of Dixie Union, PeeWee Copeland (Judy) of Dixie Union and Billy Copeland (Missy) of Dixie Union; his aunt Kay Crawford (Robert) of Blackshear; and his close friend Randy Crawford of Patterson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
