She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. James P. Carswell; her parents, Walter George Belz and Marion Matilda Harrington Belz; and her siblings, Fern Belz Miller, Shirley Belz Shiver, Eugene Belz Sr, Richard Belz and William Belz.

She is survived by: her children, Dr. Ronald Carswell of Waycross, Deborah Cox (Richard) of St Petersburg, FL, James A. Carswell (Laura) of Sterrett, AL and Carol Kluball (Jeff) of Leesburg; and her grandchildren, Morgan Carswell, Zachariah Cox, Jessica Cox, Stephen Cox, Lindsey Carswell Perara, Michele Carswell, Charles Kluball, Jeremy Kluball and Rebecca Kluball. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
