He was predeceased by: his parents, Hattie Mae Jenkins and Eddie Swift; his siblings, Essie Mae Adams, Hattie Ann Adams, Mary Frances Adams, Carl Adams and Levi Adams; and his grandsons, Malcolm Swift and Jason Kennedy.
He is survived by: his wife Pastor Linda Swift of Waycross; his children, James Atkins, Jr. (Sheila), Ariane Howard (Joel), Linda Swift Scott (Nathaniel) of Folkston, Lester Swift, Jr. of Folkston, Luvenia Swift Atkins (Dave) of Pelham, Sandra Swift of Kingsland, Richard Swift (Tesheba) of Lagrange, Donnie Swift Hawkins (Valencia) of Jacksonville and Ronnie Swift (Dwineisha) of Folkston; his siblings, Lucious Adams, Davis Daisy, George Adams, Marion Adams and Naomi Oliver; his siblings-in-law, Pastor Juliette Howard (Aaron), Tammy Denton, Milliedean Gadson (Bruce), James Bennett (Ophelia) and Leroy Benette, Jr.; and his granddaughter Au'Teony Burse. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
