He was predeceased by: his parents, George Elton Gillis and Mildred Carver Gillis Ruth; his wife Lavada Clark Gillis; his sister Janice Gillis; and his stepdaughter Carla Williford.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Gillis Franklin (Derek) of Southside, AL and Larry Gillis, Jr. of Waycross; his stepsons, Carlton Williford of Brantley County and Dustin Williford of Waycross; the mother of his children Rita Newton; his sister Cathy Gillis Gardner (Derwood) of Hazlehurst; and his nephews, Jason Dixon, Jake Gardner, James Gardner and David Gardner. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
