He was predeceased by: his father John W. "J. W."; his siblings, Faye Higginbotham (Johnny), Edward Johnson, Leo H. Johnson (Newlene), Junior Johnson and Russell Bell; and his brothers-in-law, Julius Tuten, Kenneth Herrin (Thelma) and Bill Herrin (Margaret).
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Herrin Johnson of Brantley County; his children, Ann Harmon (Karl) of Howell, MI, Teresa Lewis (Danny) of Waycross, Jan Prescott (Mike) of Hoboken, Lisa Waters (Mike King) of Homerville, Ida Thrift (Jimmy) of Blackshear and John Johnson, Jr (Libby) of Waycross; his sisters, Louise Rowell (Alvin) of Blackshear, Carolyn Tuten of Blackshear, Joy Dixon (Eugene) of Waycross and Merinda Bennett (Carl) of Texas; and his sisters-in-law, Melba Bell of Blackshear and Mary Johnson of Monroe, GA. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
