He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Hanford Welch and Mattie Mae Bowen Welch; his former wife Margie Howell; his children, Johnny Welch, Jeffery Welch and Betty Ann Welch; his siblings, Annie Mae Mercer, Lucelle Gatlin, Lynda Payne and Wilbon Welch; and his close friend Patricia Anne Hayes.
He is survived by: his daughter Kathy Crosby (Charles) of Waycross; his grandchildren, Leslie Welch (Dana) of Blackshear, Tamara Renfrow (Matthew) of Birmingham, AL, Jessica Erin Burkhardt (Bill) of Waycross and Brittany Royals (Tim) of Akins, SC; and his daughter-in-law Janice Welch. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren.
