She was predeceased by: her parents, George Hamilton Tatum, Jr. and Lottie Melissa Wildes Tatum; her husband John Riley Bennett; and her siblings, James Hamilton "Hamp" Tatum, George L. Tatum, Sr., Elias A. Tatum, Lavenia Bell Tatum, Margaret Simerly, Doris Douglas, Melissie Howell, Lottie Mae Vanhoy and Kathleen Pedrick.
She is survived by: her daughter Sheila Smith (Robert) of Waycross; her grandchildren, Bert Smith (Becca) of Waycross, Renee Herron (Chad) of Toccoa and John Smith (Kim) of Waycross; her great grandchildren, Sy Smith, Lee Smith, Walker Herron, Ally Herron, Ben Smith and Haley Jane Smith; her brother Toomer Tatum (Betty Sue) of Waycross; and her sister-in-law Jo Tatum of Waycross. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
