He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Harmon Shell and Iver Mae MaGahee Shell; his wife Aletha Thompson Shell; his children, Gary Harmon Shell of Blackshear and Andala Faith Shell of Waycross; his grandson Matthew Shell (Danielle) of Waycross; and his nephew James Morris of Cordele.
