He is survived by: his children, Renee Thornton of Midway, GA, Craig Thornton (Jennifer) of Blackshear, GA, Casey Thornton (Donna) of Waycross, GA and Linda Thornton of Waycross, GA; his significant other Myra Hickox of Waycross, GA; his grandchildren, Kyle Kinnon, Lena Kinnon, Chase Thornton, Caroline Thornton and Charly Bell (Jordan); his great grandchildren, Kandon Cassidy, Fynn Murray, Jase Bell and Ridge Smith; his siblings, Ellis Thornton (Judy), Mary Minchew, Zelda Mullis (Fred) and Denise Lee (Jay); and his sister-in-law Frances "Fran" Thornton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
