He was predeceased by: his parents, Newman Betts, and Edna Betts, Sr.; and his brother Harvey Nixon Betts. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Varnell Betts; his children, Andrew Newman Betts (Paige) and Holly Betts Horgan (Dan); his grandson Fiver Horgan; his siblings, Lora Betts Sawyer (Tommy) and Henry V. Betts (Susie); and his sister-in-law Betty Sharp Betts. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lord and Stephens Funeral Home (1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, March 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Watkinsville First Baptist Church (1610 Simonton Bridge Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677).
