He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Evelyn Wilson and Earnest Carrie; his daughters, Nyesha Barnes and Tamara Barnes; his stepson Lawrence Joiner; his grandchildren, Tamyr Barnes and Ellarose Buskirk; his siblings, Larry Mays, Barbara Dickerson (Michael), James Young (Shirley), Tammy Brown (Jeffrey), Annie Jean Banks (Ricky), Thomasina Toney, Samantha Toney, Arthur Felder (Sherrie), John Toney (Waskihiea), Elder David Bryant (Yamile), Harry Bellinger (Cassandra), Terry Bellinger, Bridget Bellinger, Greg Toney, Lance Davis and Jan Ray; his uncle James Mays; his niece Banesha Mays Stephens (Maurice); and his great-nephews, Maurice Stevens, Jr. and Mahki Stevens. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Generous to a fault, charity was not a problem with him.
