She was predeceased by: her parents, Horace Edward Irvin and Arrie Aletha Young Irvin of Lithonia; her husband Herbert Lee Smith of Lithonia; and her siblings, Alice Ophelia Ralston and Charles Edward Irvin.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Lynne Jackson, Teresa Leigh Satterfield, Patsy LaVerne Cates, Herbert Kenneth Smith and Herschel Theodore Smith. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren.
