She was predeceased by: her parents, James Raymond and Mary Katherine Stone; and her daughter Mary Medina Kirkland Carpenter. She is survived by: her partner Claire Chapman; her son Scott Kirkland of Auburn, AL.; her sisters, Patricia Maze of Lakeland, FL and Mary Lynn Bassett (Greg) of Gainesville, FL.; her sons, Joseph, Nicholas and Andrew of Gainesville, GA; her grandchildren, Halle and Porter Kirkland of Auburn, AL; her niece Melissa Adams; and her nephews, Rodney and Michael Holt.
