He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Kennedy and Pauline Kennedy; and his wife Karen Jordan Kennedy. He is survived by: his children, Russell Kennedy (Brianne) of Schertz, TX, Kristen Thaxton (Robert) of Perry, GA, Kara Bowden (Joe) of Shiloh, GA, Amy Carlson (Ted) of Louisville, KY and Kevin Gillis of Columbus, GA; and his brothers, Doug Kennedy (Laurie) of Athens, AL and Robert Kennedy (Joyce) of Jasper, AL.
