He was predeceased by: his son Marvence Braswell; his grandchildren, Elijah Homer and Hayvin Anthony; his brother Melvin Washington, Sr.; and his parent Annie Frances Washington.

He is survived by: his children, Shawnte Washington Anthony (Vinson), Tamaria Washington, Alvin Washington, Jr. and Kannisha Homer; his grandchildren, McKenzie Washington, Hayleigh, Hayden Anthony, Hannah and Jabari Homer; and his siblings, Velma Hicks (Terrell), Gloria Washington, George Washington, Jr. and Deborah Grayer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, other extended family members and friends.
