He was predeceased by: his parents, Thacher Upton and Roxie Lamar Upton; his wife Vivian Connie Price Upton; and his siblings, Roy Upton, Joe Upton, Clark Upton, Jack Upton, George Upton, Helen Tanajewski, Mary Smith and Jean Baird.
He is survived by: his children, John Jr., Stan Upton of Wadley, Cindy Prigge (Marty) of Statesboro, Janet Wilson (Stephen) of Millen and Kim Upton of Evans; and his grandchildren, Lauren Burrell, Jessica Selby (Preston), Megan Williams (Marshall), Taylor Blocker (Dominique), Matthew Blocker, Abbie Johnson (Blake), Kelsey Upton, Victoria Smith (Wes), Sophia Zumbro, Stephen Wilson, Jr. (Brittney), Allison Wilson and Caitlyn Wilson. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
