He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry Schmidt and Elizabeth Deacon; and his sister Elizabeth Holdsworth. He is survived by: his wife Joya Christie Schmidt; the mother of his children Linda DuFresne Schmidt; his daughters, Kelly Verlatti (Michael) and Jodi Warhanek (Brad); his granddaughters, Olivia and Ella Warhanek; his sisters, Theresa Sorensen (John), Penny Deacon (Kathie), Sandy Patamia (Dom), Kristy Blankeny, Brenda Griego and Linda Apocada; his stepmother Linda Sigman; his stepsons, David (Kathie), Charlie and Jonathan Foley (Laura); his stepgrandchildren, Brittany Watts (Brandon), Steven Tavenner (Michelle), Seth, Wyatt and Gabriel Foley; and also, Vivian Christie, Gary Christie (Francis) and Dan Christie (Sarah). He is also survived by his nieces, and nephews, chosen family and countless friends.
