He was predeceased by: his significant other Glenda Sellers; and his siblings, Arlie Mae Hand, Shirley Faye Hand, Rose Marie Hand, JoAnn Jeffcoat, Austin Hand and Jimmy Roger Hand.
He is survived by: his children, Johnny Rex Hand Jr. (Stefanie) of Fleming, Stephen Doc Hand (Alexis) of Statesboro, Shana Belle Sellers (Virgil) of Statesboro, Nicole Shaw (David) of Jacksonville, FL and Velina Gail Bragg of Hazlehurst; and his siblings, Doffis Hand (Shirley) of Hazlehurst, Jack Hand (Venita) of Douglas and Loretta Harder (Frank) of Bonaire. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
