He was predeceased by: his parents, D. B. Sumner and Edna King Sumner; and his sister Glenda Sumner Williamson. He is survived by: his wife Ann Frost Sumner of Vidalia; his daughter Denise Sumner Lowery; his siblings, Jean Williamson (Clifford) of Gray and George Sumner (Shirley) of Lake Sinclair; and his grandchildren, Dr. Justin Osborne (Allison) of Patterson, Lauren Powell Hofmann (Russell) of Bishop, Slade Osborne (Jessica), Mitchell Lowery (Jennifer) and Brooke Powell Cooper (Clint). He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
