He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam W. Barr and Marie Jernigan Barr; and his sister Betty Clements. He is survived by: his wife Joanne Barr; his children, Matt of Vidalia, Ben Barr of Vidalia and Kate Barr Parkerson (Matt) of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Jessie Anderson, Chase Barr of Hazlehurst, Maggie, Abby Barr of Vidalia and Beau Parkerson of Atlanta; and his great grandchildren, Eli Anderson and Leo Barr. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

““I was just one of many of Sam's work family. This news is quite disheartening. We have not seen each other in over 10 years but communicated occasionally on FB. I was ak "Trunk Monkey". So many good times at work or on the golf course. There are few in the industry I would have a higher regard for than Sam. Extremely knowledgeable, great mentor, work partner, leader, friend.
