With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Magdalene Gibbs of Vidalia, Georgia, born in Summerville, South Carolina, who passed away on December 9, 2022 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Elijah Odom and Mary Magdalene Odom; her husband John Gibbs of Johns Island, SC; and her siblings, James Arthur Odom, Lillie Mae Smalls and Lettie Mae Odom.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jane A. Deas (Nathaniel), Ethel M. Vice (Alfred), Dorene Powell (Andrew), Sara Ann Gibbs, Dianne Simmons (Lorenzo) and Tracey Jackson (Norman); her sisters, Virginia Johnson (Harry) and Sylvia Larkin (Harry); and her sister-in-law Ella Odom. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.
