He was predeceased by: his daughter Maryjo Ann Dowd; his parents, Reverend Henry Lee Dowd and Esther Beasley Dowd; and his sisters, Bernice Dinah Dowd and Lisa Beasley Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Lawrence Dowd; his children, Henry Marvin Dowd, Jr. (Kelly) of Rock Springs, Christopher Luke Dowd of Lyons, Candace Dowd Morris (Eddie) of Vidalia and Ronald Joseph Sikes (Heather) of Vidalia; and his brothers, Drayton Dowd (Kathy) of Uvalda and Clayton Dowd (Wendy) of Tifton.
