She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Newman and Lola Warnock O'Quinn; her husband Mayor J. M. Fountain; her siblings, Joe, John O'Quinn, Mae Moncus, LaVerne Fountain and Ora O'Quinn; and her children-in-law, Don Selph and Linda Sue Fountain.
She is survived by: her children, Jesse (Susan), Festus Fountain of Mt. Vernon, Beverly Selph of Statesboro, Marilyn Fountain of Mt. Vernon, Cynthia Fountain of Mt. Vernon, Becky Fountain (Terry Horne) of Mt. Vernon and Charlotte Black (Bill) of Mt. Vernon; and her siblings, Eleene Davis of McDonough, Cora Cheek of Rhine and Willard O'Quinn of Glenwood. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
In May of 2020, during the Covid 19 pandemic, Mema Fountain was honored with a surprise "drive-by" parade for her 98th birthday, and she was humbled by the very large number of family and friends who participated to show their love for her.
