He is survived by: his sons, Cary Helms (Amanda) of Vidalia and Bryne Helms (Julie) of Vidalia; his grandchildren, Chad Helms (Jessica) of Vidalia, Brent Helms of Montgomery County, Michael Helms (Andrea) of Mendes, Brianna Helms of Vidalia, Emily Helms Gay (Brandon) of Glennville, M. J and Cassie Ethridge of Warner Robins; and his sisters, Faye Helms Whaley (Ray) of Oklahoma, Sandra Helms Howell of Montgomery County, Rose Helms Braddy (Ken) of Montgomery County, Irma Helms Taylor (Richard) of Vidalia, Linda Helms of Texas, Gail Helms Gibson (Jimmy) of Aiken, Vickie Helms Fletcher and Lynn Helms Collins (Timmy) of Vidalia.
