He was predeceased by: his son Alan Dwayne Dykes; his parents, George W. Dykes, Sr. and Nancy Cleo Copeland Dykes; and his siblings, Anna Louise Little and Thomas J. Dykes.

He is survived by: his wife Lucille Strickland of Vidalia; his daughter Vickie Dykes Randazza (Mark) of South Carolina; his grandchildren, Andrew Randazza (Olivia) of North Carolina and Alexandra Randazza (Allie) of South Carolina; and his siblings, Retha Willis of Baxley and Bobby Dykes of Johnson Corner.
