He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara LaMaye Dowd; his parents, Lee Anthony Dowd and Flora Boyd Dowd; and his siblings, Tommie Lee Dowd Walker, James Tillman "Jake" Dowd, Wilmer Lee Dowd, Geraldine "Polly" Dowd Herndon, JoAnn Dowd Caraway and Ruby Dowd Mobley.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Dowd (Shirley) of Lyons, Jim Dowd (Marlene Evans), Jeff Dowd (Shelia) of Birmingham and Mark Dowd (Sonja) of Johnson Corner; his siblings, Carolyn Mobley of Rex and Buddy Dowd (Francis) of Riverdale; his grandchildren, Amanda Dowd, Jamie Dowd, Amanda Mercer, Olivia LeComte, Adams Dowd, Taylor Dowd, Cody Dowd and Cole Dowd; and his great grandchildren, Chase Dowd, Katie Hutcheson, Jordan Hutcheson, Connor, Colin Mercer, Rachel Dowd, Moxie Dowd, Violet LeComte, Markie Ann Dowd, Jovie Dowd, Alice LeComte, Jaxson Hutcheson and Beckett Hutcheson.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 19th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church (2926 Cedar Crossing Rd, Uvalda, GA 30473). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
