He was predeceased by: his parents, Bobby Portwood and Earline Portwood; his sisters, Pam Portwood and Barbara Portwood; his grandson Andrew Portwood; and his brother-in-law Otis Moore.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick Portwood (Lorraine) of Vidalia, Lance Portwood of Weatherford, Lacey Faircloth (Royce Pierce) of Vidalia and Brittany Portwood (Jeremy Copeland) of Swainsboro; his sisters, Vicki McRae (Charles) of Swainsboro and Cathy Vaughn of Ft. Worth; his grandchildren, Cody, Kaitlyn, Anna, Amber, Hunter, Jason, Kay, Christian, Savannah, Jace and Parker; and his close friends, Charlie Leach, Ross Kelly and Robbie Taylor of Vidalia.
