He was predeceased by: his son Danny Kersey; his parents, Hilton Felton Kersey and Verdie Mae Chavis Griffis; and his sisters, Thera Lee Hearn, Carolyn Griffis and Annie Mae Carter.
He is survived by: his sister Elaine Toler (Johnny) of Hazlehurst. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
