It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Russell Smith of Valdosta, Georgia, who passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, J. W. Martin and Shirley Hoye Martin; her brother Dr. J. William Martin, III; and her nephew Will Martin. She is survived by: her husband James L. Smith; her children, Matthew of Lowndes County, Esther-Marie Lawrence of Lowndes County, Cate of Lowndes County and Greg Hunter of Lowndes County; her stepchildren, Drew of Raleigh, N. C., Elizabeth Smith of Raleigh, N. C., Evan of Raleigh, N. C. and Tate Simmons of Raleigh, N. C.; her sister-in-law Zan Martin; her niece Beth Reed (Michael); and her grandchildren, Susanna, John-William Lawrence, Russell, Richard Hunter, Rives, Julia Smith and Henry Simmons.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Carson McLane Funeral Home (2215 N Patterson St, Valdosta, GA 31602). A memorial service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calendar Carson McLane Funeral Home (2215 N Patterson St, Valdosta, GA 31602).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Avenue Church of Valdosta, Inc. or to Langdale Hospice House.
