She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse I. Smeal and Pauline E. Smeal; her husband Hugh Mayo; and her siblings, Patricia Wiedemer and John "Tucker" Smeal.
She is survived by: her children, Michelle Kirkpatrick (Billy) of Valdosta, Michael Mayo (Sandra) of Sarasota and Marcia Smith (Tommy) of Vienna, Virginia; her grandchildren, Kristin Malchow (Lee) of Augusta, Kathryn Franke (Josh) of Rochester, Colin Kirkpatrick of Los Angeles, Claire Marchman (Thomas) of Augusta, Grayson Smith of Arlington, Connor Smith of Denver and Garrett Smith of Vienna, Virginia; and her great grandchildren, Hugh and Walter Franke of Rochester.
