He was predeceased by: his parents, Lunice Edward Godwin and Fannie Bethea Godwin; his wife Dorothy Jean Godwin; his grandson Donald "Austin" Watson; and his siblings, Rose Coppedge, Darlene Coppedge, Charles Godwin and Rollins Godwin.
He is survived by: his daughter Sherry; his son-in-law Randy Boyd of Valdosta; his daughter Heather; his son-in-law Donald Wrye, Jr. of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Lindsey (Kevin Wilson) of Valdosta, Kamie (Chris Crumley) of Valdosta and Daniel (Brooke Wrye) of Hahira; his great grandchildren, Dalton Wilson, Kinsley Crumley, Gabby Wrye, Landon Wrye, Brysen Wrye and Sophia Wrye; his siblings, Mary Ann Dell of Morven and Lee Godwin of Morven; his brother-in-law Bobby Coppedge of Dasher; and his close friend Myra Moore of Valdosta. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
