He was predeceased by: his mother Sally May; his son David Michael Brinson; his granddaughter Megan Dial; and his siblings, Willard, Jack Brinson, Totsy Johnson, Ruth Jenkins, Bernice Hayes, Peggy Williams and Pat Spires.

He is survived by: his wife Kadelia Brinson; his daughter Michele Dial; and his grandchildren, Amanda, Allen and Monica. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
