He was predeceased by: his parents, James Spires and Elizabeth Spires (Gillis); his wife Pauline Spires; his daughter Renee Spires; his grandson Jarod McKinnon; and his brother Larry Spires.

He is survived by: his children, Ken Spires (Tammy) of Quitman, Toni Spires Hudson (David) of Valdosta, GA and Tracy Spires Rigdon (Ken) of Valdosta, GA; his grandchildren, Kelly, Kari, Jamie, Thomas, Brooke, Scotty, Dylan and Kendall; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Addison, Asher and Emma; and his sisters, Melba S. Mosely of Macon, GA, Kay S. Jones of Macon, GA and Sheila S. Johns (Marvin).

Due to the ongoing pandemic, Geary is to be cremated and services will be announced at a later date.
