She was predeceased by: her parent Abbie Preston Strawder; her husband Coy Cecil Brightwell, Sr.; her mother Minnie Strawder (Ward); and her siblings, Thomas Edward Strawder, Eugene Preston Strawder, Mary Frances Strawder, Katherine Tillman Hand, Dorothy Wright and Juanita Sasser Harrell.
She is survived by: her children, Cecilia Ann Brightwell McCord (Hank) of Atlanta, GA, Vicky Elaine Brightwell Biles (George) of Valdosta, GA and Coy Cecil Brightwell, Jr. (Linda) of Valdosta, GA; her sister Geraldine Conger of Baxley, GA; her nephew Rev. Gary Conger; and her daughter Dr. Ann Brightwell McCord. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Evelyn's final wishes were that memorials be made to China Grove Missionary Baptist Church (138 China Grove Church Rd. Moultrie, GA 31788) and Hospice of South Georgia (2263 Pineview Dr, Valdosta, GA 31602).
