He was predeceased by: his siblings, Fred Short, Ethel Short and Ray Short; and his daughters, Joni Futrill and Jill Burkett.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Crosby Short; his children, Jeff Short and Juli Maddux (Jim); his grandchildren, Walker Mobley, Lauren Doyle (Louisa), Jacob Burkett, Hannah Burkett and Rebecca Burkett; and his great grandchildren, Dakota Shane Thompson and Alora Jill Burkette.
