He is survived by: his children, Robert E. "Buddy" Thornton, Jr. (Rose) of Winterville, GA, William A. "Tony" Thornton (Beth) of Carlton, GA, Sanford "Sandy" Thornton (Debbie) of Woodville, GA, James "Jimmy" Thornton (Kathy) of Union Point, GA, Lovette Lombard (Byron) of Greensboro, GA and Paul "Bodie" Thornton of Union Point, GA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
