LaNelle Durden Obituary
Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. LaNelle Bishop Durden, age 79, of Twin City, GA, on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017, at 2:00 PM in Twin City First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Bishop Chapel Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Twin City First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers are G.W. Johnson, Wade Johnson, Tal Johnson, Phillip Rehberg, Brad Durden, Tommy Durden and Ken Warnock. Mrs. Durden was born January 24, 1938 in Millen, GA to the late Jack Allen and Rubye Mulling Bishop and lived most of her life in Twin City, GA.
She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a homemaker, licensed insurance agent with Durden Insurance Agency, and a graduate of Tift College with a degree in Education. Mrs. Durden was a devout member of Twin City First Baptist Church, and for 65 plus years, since the age of 9, she served as an organist and pianist for many area churches. She was very active in numerous church and civic organizations throughout the city, county and state. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her husband, F. Dickson Durden.
Survivors include: One Daughter: Disa D. McCommon (George) of Macon, GA; One Son: Dal D. Durden (Windy) of Swainsboro, GA; Three Grandchildren: Maryanna D. Jones (David), Miriam D. Williams (Blake) and William McCommon; One Great-Grandchild: Dickson David Jones; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bishop Chapel Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Barbara Stokes, 717 Ehrlich Farm Rd., Swainsboro, GA 30401.
