He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Lafayette "Fate" and Mary Opal Buchner Brooks; his son Richard Brewer; his granddaughter Alaysia Ford; his sister Judy; and his brother-in-law John Gilmore.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Hatfield Brooks; his son Steve of Tunnel Hill, GA; his daughter-in-law Diane Brooks of Tunnel Hill, GA; his daughters, Cindy Brooks of Cisco, GA and Twana (Chris Amos); his daughter-in-law Christy Brewer of Calhoun, GA; his brothers, Joe (Sandra Brooks) of Dalton, GA, Lee (Deb Brooks) of Dalton, GA and David Brooks of Dalton, GA; and his grandchildren, Ashley, Seth Langston, Valeria Ann, Chuck Simmons, Whitney, Jumi Ware, Tyler McClure, John Brooks, Jacob S. Brooks and Caleb M. Brooks. He is also survived by great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
