He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Brinkley and Daisy Plott Brinkley; the mother of his children Wanda Jones Brinkley; and his siblings, Bill, Tom, Robert, Jim, Jerry, Mary Cummings, Louise Cummings and Janie Holbrook.
He is survived by: his sons, David Dewight Brinkley (Adelia) and Larry Dewayne Brinkley (Lachelle); his niece Jennifer Rogers; his brother-in-law Melvin Cummings; his grandchildren, Cody (Whitney), Alexis, Christian and Malachi; and his great grandchildren, Naomi, Kennedy, Faith and Kyh. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
