He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy L. Matthews and Marie Edwards Matthews; and his sister Barbara Sue Wagner. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn McGlamery Matthews; his children, Marc Matthews (Kimberly) and Jenifer Campbell (Byron); his grandchildren, Savannah, Dan Lentz, Jackson, Mitchell, Benjamin Matthews, Morgan, Max Campbell, Parker and Preston Jackson; his great grandchild Noah Lentz; and his brothers, Larry Matthews and Gary Matthews (Carol). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Tucker (5095 Lavista Rd, Tucker, GA 30084). A graveside service was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Providence Methodist Church (4470 Pat Colwell Rd, Blairsville, GA 30512).
