He was predeceased by: his father Felton Dobson; his son Frankie Blackmon; and his siblings, Don Dobson, Patricia Byers and Brenda Scott.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila Nelson Dobson; his children, William Matt Dobson (Venessa), Dustin Blackmon (Chandra), Lisa Barfield (Shane), Whitney Matijiw (Wade Smith) and Patches Wilcox (Brian); and his sisters, Shirley Carpenter, Wanda Russell and Carol Callan. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
