He was predeceased by: his parents, R. L. Southerland and Ruby Lee Cagle Southerland; the mother of his children Clara Southerland; his wife Frances Powell Southerland; his siblings, Ronald Southerland and Linda Chamlee; his son Timothy DeWayne Southerland; and his granddaughter Jennifer Whitt.
He is survived by: his close friends, Bill, Nancy DeHart, Jim and Patti Grindstaff. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
