He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Fortenbery; his children, Michael Carey Fortenberry, Thomas Barry Fortenberry, Sanford Eugene Stephens, Jr., Rodney Martin Stephens, Jerrie Ann Fortenberry Legare, Susan Lejean Fortenberry Allred and Tammy Renae McDonald; and his sister Joyce Levitt. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
