She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh C. Coates and Lazell A. Coates. She is survived by: her daughter Beth Chavis; her grandchildren, Brooke Merchant and Aiden Chavis; and her brothers, Thomas E Coates and Sonny Coates. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
